FCRA cases rarely reach a jury, and fewer survive appeal.

Illinois-based credit report error firm.
- Credit Report Errors
- Mixed Files

Why we included them
A small Illinois firm, founded in 2019, that markets itself on credit report errors and fights them through disputes first and lawsuits when disputes fail. Its attorneys are admitted in Illinois and several nearby federal districts, and one founder lists FCRA litigation among his practice areas. We found no named case results, so treat the firm’s “millions recovered” claim as its own.

Palos Heights, IL (older listings show Orland Park and Chicago).
Credit report errors, mixed files, identity theft, deceased flags, background and employment check errors, credit card and mortgage denials caused by reporting errors.

Good fit if
You live in Illinois or the Midwest and have a credit report error, a mixed file, or a denial caused by one.
Not a fit if
You want a firm with published FCRA verdicts or a large team. The public site shows two founders and one other attorney.

Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to common questions about hiring an FCRA attorney, lawsuits, and your rights.
Know your rights.
Make informed decisions.
Hiring an attorney
What kind of lawyer handles credit report errors?
A consumer protection lawyer who handles Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) cases. Look for a firm that files cases against credit bureaus and companies that report your information.
How much does an FCRA lawyer cost?
Most take cases on contingency, so you pay no fee unless there is a recovery. The law allows a court to order the company that violated it to pay your attorney’s fees. Ask each firm about its percentage, case costs, and whether the dispute stage costs anything.
How do I find an FCRA attorney in my state?
Start with our state list above, then check the NACA directory at https://www.consumeradvocates.org and your state bar’s lawyer lookup. Confirm the attorney is licensed where you live.
What should I bring to a consultation?
Your full credit reports, your dispute letters and proof of delivery, every response, documents that prove the error, any denial letters, and notes on how it affected you.
Lawsuits and credit reporting
Can I sue Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion?
Yes, if a bureau violated the FCRA, for example by failing to follow reasonable procedures or to investigate a dispute properly. An error alone is not enough. A lawyer will look at what happened after you disputed it and what harm followed.
Can I sue a creditor or lender for false reporting?
Sometimes. A furnisher has duties after a bureau notifies it of your dispute. Whether you have a claim depends on the dispute path and the facts.
What happens when a dispute comes back “verified”?
That word does not show what was checked. A lawyer can compare your dispute, your evidence, and the later reports to see whether the investigation was reasonable.
What damages may be available under the FCRA?
Depending on the violation, actual damages, statutory damages of $100 to $1,000 for willful violations, punitive damages in some cases, and attorney’s fees and costs. Results are not guaranteed.
Do I have to dispute before I sue?
It depends on who you sue. A dispute through a credit bureau is generally needed before you can sue a furnisher over its investigation duties. Other claims can work differently. Talk to a lawyer early.
Credit repair vs. legal help
Can a lawyer remove accurate negative information?
No. Accurate information can generally stay on your report. Most negative items can be reported for 7 years, and bankruptcies for up to 10, though exceptions apply.
Can an attorney fix my credit?
A lawyer can pursue corrections and damages when reporting is inaccurate and the law was violated. A lawyer cannot make accurate negative items disappear.
For the full comparison, see our section on credit repair vs. FCRA attorneys above.
